Do you have an abundance altar in our home or office? Did you know that an abundance altar energizes the area of your home or office that the altar resides in? Why of course you did, but let’s share about a certain idea.

As a Master Teacher and Educator of Interior Alignment™ Certification courses, I share with my students about how an abundance altar is helpful in their own professional practice.  As with any altar creation, intention is very important.  Begin by indentifying what abundance, wealth, and prospertity means to you personally.  This is a definintion beyond Webster’s dictionary.  Once you have a clear meaning for abundance, wealth and prosperity, you can begin to clarify your intention for your abundance altar. The time and energy that you take to define abundance, wealth, and prosperity is worth the effort as you will begin to accept that your definition may not mean abundance to another person.

For instance the energy of Buffalo (the American Bison) is a symbol of abundance for many Native American Nations.  I have a statute of a Buffalo with her calf on my abundance altar.  (I am Prarie Band Potawatomi and my Nation takes the stewardship of the Buffalo so seriously that we have a herd on our reservation to stay connected with the Wisdom of Buffalo.)  The symbol of Buffalo means health and vitality, life force, to many Native peoples. Not only did it provide sustance but Buffalo also provided shelter – a home, clothing and luxuries.  The Annishabe Nation, you may know this Nation as the Ojibiwa Nation, may use the symbol of wild rice in their definition of abundance.  What is your definition of abundance, wealth and prosperity?

Consider placing your abundance altar in the Wealth area of your home for the maxium assistance from your home to support your intentions, life goals and desires.

As you place thoughtful items on your abundance altar, consider including a symbol of your personal business.  This symbol of your personal business may be your business card or a brochure.  As you receive payment for service to your clients, place the payment on the abundance altar for a few days so that you may show your gratitude and also bless the payment.

I would also suggest placing a candle of your favorite color and scent on the altar. You may want to research the energetic qualities of colors (see Deborah Redfern’s IA blog articles about color) and the energetic qualities of certain flower essence or essential oils scents to add another layer of intention to your abundance altar.

On my abundance altar, I have a candle with the essence of Angel Wings, my lingam gifted to me by my teacher, Denise Linn, which is in a red glass bowl filled with sand so that the lingam can stand upright. I also have citerine stones on my altar that were gifted to me by friend and co-Master Educator Rainy Jordon.  Citerine is known as the merchant stone for abundance. And, I have my business card in a prominent place on the altar as well.  (Please see picture)

Each time I light the candle I have in my mind and heart all that I am grateful for and that I am open to all the positive abundance and prosperity flowing to me from Spirit.

May your abundance altar energize your home.  Blessings, Neshi.

Thank you Neshi for this article. So many men and women have in home offices and businesses. I have just developed an in home yoga studio. It transforms into a sitting room for the days there are no classes. It is also in my abundance area of the home. Your suggestions of having an altar where the business is honoured specifically feels very important. I will definitely use your ideas to keep the energy fresh and gently moving forward in this area. Buffalo energy feels very special. Can you comment on the healing aspects of White Buffalo?
    Namaste, Brenda

Hi Brenda, thanks for the compliment on my Abundance Altar article. Your space for yoga studio sounds great. And, you are right, an abundance altar in that area since it is your wealth area is the right place for the altar.

As for the White Buffalo…yes, there is a spiritual story about the White Buffalo that orginates with the Lakota, Dakota and Nakota Nations (Souix). It is about Spirit appearing to two Lakota warriors. Spirit came as a beautiful Indian woman dressed in the finest white buckskin dress. One warrior was rather disrespectful in his comments to the Indian woman (sexual attraction). The other warrior was much more respectful. The first warrior received what he asked for and that was to be “with” the Indian woman. As he came closer to her, there was a spinning of wind and the warrior died. The second warrior was given information about sacred ceremony which are still being carried out by the Lakota, Dakota and Nakots people — pipe ceremony, sweat lodge and sundance, to this day. When the warrior shared this information with his people the Indian woman, Spirit, came to the people and shapeshifted into a White Buffalo, she is known by all tribal nations as White Buffalo Woman.

It is said that when the White Buffalo returns to “the people” peace and harmony will reign.

In the late 1980′s a white buffalo was born in Janesville WI, she was named Miracle. Miracle’s fur color changed over the years as the prophecy said that it would. She died a few years ago and was mourned by all people around the world. Two years ago another white buffalo was born on the same farm. This buffalo was named Chance, he was not of Miracle’s bloodline. Chance died, I believe last year as he was struck by lightning. 4 other buffalo calfs were also killed by the same lightning strike as they were standing together.

Brenda, I did shorten up White Buffalo Woman’s story a bit. I am sure that there are others out there that have more information regarding White Buffalo Woman.

    Many Blessings, Neshi.

I’ve just come across your article on ideas for abundance altars and found it very interesting. In your article you have given me several ideas for strengthening the power of my own altar. Thank you.

As an aside, we have a bed and breakfast accommodation and so part of our house is allocated to the use of our guests. Because of this I don’t feel it appropriate to put my altars in the “public” areas. I have my altar in our bedroom – it is not in the ideal place, but it is the best I can do.

But do you have any suggestions for effecting abundance in the prosperity part of our home which actually in one of the guests bedrooms?

  • Neshi says:

    Hi Dave,
Thank you for visiting Where Energy Flows blog site. I can only answer your question about suggestions for abudance and prosperity area of your home that is in a public part of your home in a very general way since I have not seen your home.

My first reaction is Wonderful! Your abundance area is where paying guests stay — a sign of abundance. Does the room feel abundant and properous to you? Does the color and fabric texture suggest the feeling of abundance?

It is possible to use standard or more general symbols of abundance such as fruit (a actual bowl of fruit or a picture of fruit) or place a jade plant in the room (also known as a Money Tree). Another general feng shui tool to activate Chi is a water fountain. You could place a small indoor fountain in the room.

These are very general suggestions. For a more significant and powerful raise of energy in the Wealth area of your home is to clarify your intention (define what abundance means to you), access the room and clear any clutter, and place items to attract Chi in a heartfelt and meaningful way that supports your intention. For more specific and personalized suggestions, you may want to consider consulting with a feng shui practitioner in your area. Interior Alignment has many international practitioners. There is a listing at http://www.interioralignment.com.

    Blessings, Neshi.

Thanks very much for replying, Neshi. And what a positive viewpoint to be “pleased” because the abundance area is where the guests go! That is a whole lesson in itself.

I had been thinking along the lines of placing more general symbols in the appropriate positions and you have confirmed this.

I shall start today. Thanks again for your help.
