Express your True Nature at Home

Published by Deborah under Feng Shui Quotes

Candles Floating in Water

We feel most secure in an environment that truly reflects who we are.  Jut as an ill-fitting shoe cripples your ability to walk freely and comfortably, a home that does not express your true nature will restrict your ability to reach into the deepest corners of yourself to explore your potential.  You can only do that when you feel safe.

Autumn Equinox

autumn-equinox

Today’s Autumn Equinox was beautiful in Tomah Wisconsin.  We had beautiful blue skies, with maple trees beginning to change their colors from green to brilliant reds and oranges.  I spent this equinox by myself.  I usually celebrate with friends and family, but this year, I found I wanted solitude, reflective solitude.  I took time to consider what kind of ceremony I wanted to share with nature, with Spirit– sacred space.  I took my time to select stones from my property, sage, tobacco and I brought my Spirit Drum.

I created an Earth Medicine Wheel large enough for me to comfortably sit and stand in the center.  I gave thanks for all that nature has done to support me and my family this past year.  As Ted Andrews states in his book Nature Speaks, this is the Beginning of the Hero’s Journey Time.  A time to harvest and clean out the old to begin anew.

As I sat in the Earth Medicine Wheel, I drummed my thankfulness to Mother Earth, to Spirit, to the devas and elements of the land, and to my friends and family.  I also prayed that I been give the support for the my new seeds that I am sowing for the coming year.  As I plan the dates for my up coming courses, I look forward to continue teaching Interior Alignment™ practitioner courses; sacred geometry; Rainbow, 12 Gifts and A Song ascension courses; Drum making; and my new Medicine Wheel courses.

Autumn Equinox…a time to reflect, a time to gather the harvest and consider what new seeds to sow for the next growing season.

Many blessings to you.  Neshi.

The Bagua Map: Abundance

Bagua Map

I love working with the Abundance area because it holds a depth of meaning, far beyond material abundance. It is really about the law of attraction and I write about this in my e-course Dancing with Energy: 9 Steps to Manifesting your Soul’s Desires with Feng Shui.

The Law of Attraction
The law of attraction says that whatever you think about, you attract. If you are thinking about scarcity, lack, waste, need, neglect, exploitation or manipulation — you will attract more of it. How do you feel when you read those words? Did your energy fall? Now think about the words abundance, plenty, equality, fairness, respect, attention and consideration. These words raise energy.

Abundance is really about the choices you make.  Your choices reflect your essential values, discovering what is important and valuable for you and letting go of whatever does not represents those values.

So, working with the Abundance area, imagining and experiencing your inner wealth, you can ask yourself what is important and valuable to you in each of the bagua areas:

reputation     •       relationship     •     creativity     •     helpful people
career     •     self knowledge    •    family

This is all well and good, I hear you say, but what about material abundance? That’s what I am really interested in. Getting clear about your essential values will help you attract material abundance.  (If you say, I don’t think about scarcity …  oh wait, you just did, didn’t you?) Without clarity on what you really want, those sneaky self-sabotaging thoughts creep into our thoughts and vocabulary.

Stay tuned for the rest of this series on the bagua areas, and refresh your memory by reading the first post in this series The Bagua Map: Family Heritage.

~*~ When to Enhance the Abundance Area ~*~

  • when you are ready to embrace abundance on all levels
  • when you have experienced a set back in any area of life

~*~ Colours to Use ~*~
Traditionally the colours for the Abundance area are red, blue and purple.

~*~ Element Symbols ~*~
The Element symbol for the Abundance area is Wood. Wood element symbols are healthy plants, flowers, objects made of wood, columns and floral prints, stripes.

~*~ Life Symbols ~*~
Images and symbols that represent abundance are those that have a good flow of energy. Water, for example, is traditionally associated with wealth. Water can be a bowl of water - perhaps with some flowers floating on top, a tabletop fountain, aquarium, courtyard or patio fountain or pool, and of course property located on a lake, river or ocean.

But beyond this, if an object, symbol or colour feels good to you, it is an appropriate life symbol for abundance.

~*~ How to Use ~*~
Use any of the enhancements of colour, element symbols or life symbols in the Abundance area of your home.

Law of Attraction in Action

law-of-attraction-in-action

Last week I wrote an article “Five Elements and the Wizard of Oz.” The next morning, I opened my e-mail to find a note from June, the editor at Self Healing Expressions. She asked if I had any articles for this month’s newsletter. I wrote back and said, “of course! Is there a theme?” The reply: Lessons from Oz. I wrote back and said, “You aren’t going to believe this, but yesterday I wrote a piece on Oz!”

The idea for the five-element piece linked to Oz had been percolating in my subconscious for quite a few years. I keep a folder of article ideas and it was in there — not much more than a title. But the timing — why I opened that folder and clicked on that file on that day? That is a wonderful mystery. Call it chance, or coincidence, or synchronicity…I call it the law of attraction.

Very simply, a vibration was sent out (June’s intention to center this month’s newsletter around Oz) and I received it. I wrote the article very quickly; it seemed to flow from me and I felt very aligned and confident. You might like to see the finished article on the Self Healing Expressions newsletter website. Mike, the web designer, added fun sound effects from The Wizard of Oz. Click on the link to read the interactive version of The Five Elements and the Wizard of Oz.

Much of Interior Alignment™ is about the law of attraction. Some would say it is all about the law of attraction because behind all that we do as practitioners and teachers is Intention. Intention is simply this: what do you want in your life? Then, we as Interior Alignment™ practitioners and teachers give you examples of how you can create a conducive environment, one which is in alignment with your intention. When you are sending out a vibration which matches your intention, you have created the first important step in the law of attraction and drawing to you what you desire.

Color harmony in feng shui

Published by Helen under Feng Shui Colors, Helen

color-harmony-in-feng-shui

Working with color is a great way to enhance the feng shui in a building. Colors can be chosen to boost the helpful elements for different areas of the bagua, such as greens and light blues for prosperity, or to introduce a psychological mood to a room. When choosing paint colors it is important to plan a harmonious color scheme for the whole building. By following guidelines for good interior design there will always be harmony.

In an open plan building it is difficult to paint different colors in different areas. In this case, a color should be chosen which supports adjacent areas, or a neutral color used throughout. Different colors can be introduced with accents for accessories like cushions. Accent color is also good when using strong colors such as red and dark blue, as a little of these colors goes a long way. Consider whether colors in adjacent rooms will be in harmony when you look from one room to another.

Planning a color scheme for an entire building prevents a piecemeal approach to decoration. You may not want to paint all the rooms at once, but it is good to have a plan to work towards. An overall color scheme also that wall colors harmonize with ceiling and trim colors, especially if you want to use the same ceiling and trim colors throughout. Choosing a white or cream for ceilings and trims from the same colour season as paint colors is a good approach. For example warm whites work well with autumn colors. Paint lighter colors on the ceiling to lift energy and have darker colors on the floor for grounding. Choose light, warm colors to lift the energy of the cool part of the building and cool colors for a soothing effect in sunny rooms.

We go through  phases of liking certain colors, and sometimes this is because we are drawn to their vibrational frequency. We often choose colors to balance our . Before rushing to paint walls purple think about whether purple fits your color scheme. There may be other ways to enjoy the benefits of purple, like wearing purple pajamas, or keeping an amethyst crystal by the bed.

Color is not the only way to enhance the areas of the bagua. Introducing shapes and patterns, sounds, scents and materials, and grouping things in numbers, can all be used to support gua.

Five Elements and the Wizard of Oz

Published by Deborah under Deborah, Feng Shui, Five Elements

five-elements-and-the-wizard-of-oz

In Feng Shui the Five Elements are used to bring a balance in our lives. Usually this means having a balance of all five elements of Fire, Water, Metal, Wood and Earth in our living spaces. But first, let’s understand the Five Elements. L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard Oz illustrates this delightfully! In this tale you can see balanced and imbalanced examples of the five elements.

Cast

Fire: The Wizard
Water:  The Cowardly Lion
Metal:  The Tin Man
Wood: The Scarecrow
Earth: Dorothy

Fire is about taking action. The Wizard is not in balance when we first encounter him. He portrays himself as a firey ball. but he is all talk and no action. When he is revealed as a fake, he steps up to the plate as a real leader and initiator and in so doing, he finds a new sense of direction and purpose for his life.

Water is about emotions and the Cowardly Lion is a very fearful and sensitive creature who cries at the drop of a hat. The Wizard gives the Lion a medal for bravery and the Lion finds his courage. While keeping his sensitivite nature he is much more composed emotionally after he get’s his medal for bravery.

Metal is about rational thought, organization and intellectual powers. In an imbalanced state, someone who has too much metal energy (as the Tin man believes) lacks compassion and depth of emotion: he is rigid and has no heart. At the end of the story, The Wizard gives him a heart, and a testimonial which increases his capacity to both give and receive love.

Wood is about growth, flexibility and productivity. In the beginning the Scarecrow is so flexible he can hardly stand up. He also believes he has no brains, and judging by what happens when he loses his straw stuffing, we see that he does indeed lack substance. The Wizard gives him a diploma and as soon as he believes in himself, he grows substantially and becomes ’smart.’

Earth is nurturing and supportive.  Dorothy’s story is about feeling un-nurtured and taken for granted. In her inner journey and interactions with the other characters/elements she learns how to nurture others and through this, recognizes something of her own value, hence the famous line “there’s no place like home.” She comes to rely much more on her inner recources to give her stability and value.
