Sacred Space comes in many guises. It can be a beautiful mediation room, or it can be created by two friends sitting at a table sharing a dish of ice cream and idle chatter.
I have a friend who lives in New York City. Everyday she goes out for a walk in the park near her home. Before she leaves home, she tucks her journal and a pen in her pack. About time her walk is complete, she has reached her meditation tree. She plops herself down, sorts herself until she is comfortable and there, in her Sacred Space, begins writing her daily missive. Her Sacred Tree glows with its magic and inspiration.
You can easily create your own Sacred Space at home, it could be as simple as a corner of your bedroom, or a favorite chair in the living room that everyone knows is ‘yours.’ It could be a place you go to meditate for a few quiet minutes before work in the morning, again when you come home from a long day, or perhaps before climbing into bed at night. A place to refresh your thoughts and give thanks for the blessings of the day’s events. It could be the shower you enjoy every morning or evening.
Perhaps that living room chair holds the most recent book you are reading…you know, the one about Goddess Tradition, Sacred Poetry, a biography or even this month’s book for your book club. Perhaps it is where you curl up with your children and read to them before they go to bed. Wherever it is, the Space holds your Sacred Ritual.
Sacred Space can be a place in your heart. A place where you go to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Where you can ’slip away’ when you are on the subway, or sitting in traffic, or hiking in the glorious mountains.
Finding your Sacred Space is Magic. You will know it is right when you heave that sigh of relief – the sigh of coming home again. Enjoy your Sacred Space and grow Sacred Space’s with others – watch Gratitude of Life, Love and Peace GROW!!!
