PART TWO (Read Part One)
Faery Quest
by Sophia Fairchild
Faeries are real, even if we can’t see them.
Now that you have consecrated your space, you are ready to call in your faery guide to join you on your quest. Do you see tiny sparkles of light darting around you in the air? Do you feel a sensation of sinking deep within the Earth? Do you hear what sounds like strange and beautiful music coming from nowhere? Do you feel tingles in your body as if the air around you has suddenly become electric? All of these are signs that your faery guide is near.
Close your eyes and ask your faery guide to appear in your mind’s eye. Your guide will most likely come to you in a form you expect, so as not to frighten you. Perhaps it is a small child-like creature with wings, an elfin figure dressed in green, or a beautiful Faery Queen. Accept the form in which your guide now appears, knowing that a much more powerful being exists behind the spirit you now see.
Ask your faery guide sincerely for their assistance in showing you a vision. Request that you feel or hear messages that will clarify your soul’s mission in this life. Allow yourself to be completely open to any revelations and visions you receive. Notice any gifts or specific messages offered by your Faery Guide during this quiet time. Perhaps you will receive a Faery Name. Everything you see, hear and experience will have significance.
By tapping into the Faery Realm you are placing yourself into the ancient streams of spiritual awareness, prophetic vision, and connection with All of Life that your ancestors have revered throughout Time. Did you know that you too have faery wings? Notice how energy flows into your heart chakra from a point on your back. Like a flower bud yearning to unfold – latent, receptive energy lies dormant here. Visualize your wings unfurling slowly now from this point, reaching out wide, to open your awareness even more to the Faery Realm.
Your faery guide may wish to take you an a journey to an enchanted place such as a crystal cave of healing, a sacred hall of records, a temple high in the mountains, or an underwater journey to a forgotten magical realm. This is your journey, so remember that you are safe at all times. You are free to change anything at any time by simply stating your request. Your guide is very adaptable and will work with you for your greatest benefit.
When your faery journey is complete and you have returned to the center of your circle with any gifts or messages, please remember to honor your faery guide. After opening your eyes, try to jot down in your notebook the details of this journey, and perhaps make a sketch of your fairy guide, before you forget.
The first half of your quest, no matter how long it is, should be devoted to watching and listening for signs from your environment. Notice the patterns of clouds. If indoors, look out of your window. Watch the behavior of birds or animals, both in your dreams and visions, and in the natural world around you. Nature will respond in surprising ways during your quest. Everything that happens is a direct message from the now sacred world you have created. This hallowed world will speak to you in symbols and metaphors, and from within your faery circle, you are sure to see and experience many magical signs! During my first vision quest, I had close encounters with a young deer and a raccoon which contained powerful messages for me.
The second part of your quest is a time to pray. Send prayers and blessings out into the universe for all the people you love, or wished you could love. Pray for the healing of anyone and anything in the world, especially any circumstances you feel need healing. Pray for all the people, animals and situations you’ve known, and for all those you have yet to meet and experience. Pray for yourself, for your body, your mind, your heart, your soul, your spirit. Pray for all living things in nature; pray for the planet; pray for peace. Pray until you can’t think of anything else to pray for.
After this, ask the elementals of the four directions and your faery guide to carry your prayers out into the world, with all your love…
When this is complete, you may feel like singing, dancing or drumming. Let yourself go completely, in celebration of all that has transpired here in your faery circle. Don’t be surprised if you see, hear or sense a vast number of faery beings joining in. Faeries love nothing better than a joyful celebration! Your singing and dancing also helps to ground the work you have done on your quest. This is no time to be self-conscious. Really let go! Allow yourself to feel the pure, innocent joy and gratitude your heart wishes to express.
When you have finished, go back to the center of your circle and prepare to say farewell to your faery guide. Honor and bless them. Rather than verbally thanking them, you may simply blow a kiss. Though faeries do not wish to be thanked out loud, they do love to receive offerings. Perhaps you have brought along a little gift of some sweet cake. Now is the time to offer this.
While still in the center of your circle, quietly honor the elementals of the four directions in turn, beginning in the East. Silently send them your blessings, and mentally release them one by one from their guardianship of your faery circle.
Once this is done, carefully disassemble your circle in the reverse order that it was built, so that when you have finished, there are no signs of any kind that your sacred faery circle ever existed.
Now say a final prayer and blessing for all the faery beings who’ve assisted you during your quest, and give thanks to the Creator. Then begin gently returning back to your ordinary life, knowing that all that has occurred here during your quest will continue to shower you with blessings for the rest of your life!
I blow you a kiss and send you faery blessings, much love, and all good wishes as you embark on your own Faery Quest!
