FAQ Interior Alignment™
Interior Alignment™ is a system of evaluating and adjusting living and working environments with the practices of Feng Shui, Space Clearing, sacred ceremony, Synchro-alignment and Healthy Homes. It is an approach based on empowerment, compassion and deep inner guidance to create harmonious environments to work and live in. Using these techniques we balance the energy in homes, offices, gardens and the land.

Definitions
A note about the terms we use: most are probably familiar to you, but just in case you were wondering, here are some Interior Alignment definitions used in this blog:
Feng Shui
Feng shui began in Southern China and was first documented 4000 years ago. However every indigenous culture had similar traditions of environmental design. The principles of feng shui work to bring a sense of balance and natural order. The main consideration in feng shui is the flow of energy (Chi) which is enhanced utilizing tools such as balancing yin and yang, applying the Bagua Map and the theory of 5 Elements. Modern feng shui also draws on the disciplines of physiology, geography, ecology, psychology, architecture, and spirituality.
Feng Shui views the world as completely alive, with everything interconnected in a dynamic relationship. This means that we are not separate from things around us - we are deeply connected to our personal environments. When our dwelling places are healthy, energized and in harmony with nature, then our lives reflect this.
Bagua Map
The bagua map is an ancient energetic grid that carries significant and specific energy for that area of your home or office space. Each grid is known as a ‘gua’ and there are 9 guas. Interior Alignment defines these 9 areas as: Self Knowledge, Career, Helpful People, Family, Health, Children and Creativity, Wealth, Fame and Relationship. When the bagua is placed over a floor plan of a home, the energetic areas within the home can be defined and enhanced so that the home can assist its owner with their life goals and intentions.
Clutter Clearing
Clutter clearing is the process of sorting through the items in your home, office, car, purse, computer, etc. with the intention of keeping only those things which you need, love and that give you a positive, uplifted feeling. It is an integral part of implementing Feng Shui.
Space Clearing
The Interior Alignment™ Space Clearing methods were developed by Denise Linn and draw on the wisdom of many cultures, including her own Cherokee heritage.
Space clearing is a powerful and gentle process that cleanses stagnant, “negative” or unwanted energy from your home or workplace. Purified rooms feel fresh, radiant and balanced, full of vitality and life force. The atmosphere feels lighter and more peaceful, sounds are crisp and colors are more vibrant. A Space Clearing ceremony is often used in conjunction with Feng Shui to maximize the effectiveness of cures and enhancements, helping to create an even deeper sense of harmony. The tools and methods are carefully selected for each individual space and client. We may utilize essential oils, flower essences, bells, singing bowls, drumming, frankincense, sage or other sacred herbs. To complete the process, blessings activate your intentions and infuse the space with the specific energy you desire: peace, prosperity, love, vitality and health.
Consultation Process
An Interior Alignment™ consultation may consist of Instinctive Feng Shui, Space Clearing or a healthy home assessment. Often the consultation will be done over a period of several sessions, the first of which is an interview or intake to assess the client’s intention for the home and their life. In this way the IA Practitioner and client work together so that the Practitioner can best assist and serve the client. IA Practitioners respect and honor their relationship with their clients and the consultation is held in strict confidence. IA Practitioners consider a consultation to be one of the highest and most honorable ways to be of service to others.
Intention
What aspect of your life would you like to change? Your intention is your intended outcome. Feng shui and space clearing change the energy of your living environment to be in alignment with your intention.
Energy/Chi
Energy/Chi in a home, office, garden or any living space is the feeling you get when you enter that space. This feeling affects you on many levels. There are many factors that influence chi. You can slow or calm the energy of a space or energize it depending on your intention.
Yin and Yang
Two dependant but harmonious opposites which are constantly in a state of change, e.g., cold and hot, light and dark. For good feng shui the yin and yang aspects of an environment are in balance, neither too cold/light nor too hot/dark.
Sacred Space
A place where you feel calm and at peace. You feel deeply connected to your inner self and to divine energy.
